Australia Complete 3-0 Sweep of Bangladesh as Schutt Stars

Australia Women completed a 3-0 series sweep against Bangladesh Women with an emphatic 8-wicket victory in the third and final ODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. The hosts dominated the series from start to finish, with pacer Megan Schutt emerging as the standout performer. Schutt's devastating new-ball spell reduced Bangladesh to 45/4, effectively deciding the match inside the first powerplay. She finished with figures of 4-16, removing Bangladesh's top order including captain Nigar Sultana. Bangladesh showed some resistance through Sharmin Akhter's 50 off 93 balls and Shorna Akter's 54 off 71 balls, adding 54 runs for the fifth wicket, but their slow strike rates prevented a competitive total. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 172 in 49.5 overs. In reply, Australia chased down the target in just 22.4 overs, with 27 overs to spare. Georgia Voll made a quickfire 11 off 6, Beth Mooney scored 21 off 14, and an unbeaten partnership between Ellyse Perry (65 off 64) and Annabel Sutherland (74 off 52) sealed the win. Sutherland's strike rate of approximately 142 exemplified a finisher's role. Sultana Khatun took one wicket for Bangladesh, while Ashleigh Gardner claimed two for Australia. The match highlighted the structural gap between the two sides, with Australia's bench strength and Bangladesh's top-order fragility and slow scoring tempo standing out. The series served as a developmental exposure for Bangladesh and a depth-validation exercise for Australia.
